Addressing many of the practical issues of starting a solo law practice, this book is a guide to what works and what doesn't. The author went straight into solo law practice from law school, using one of the most popular books as a how-to guide. He found that although the published how-to guides had a lot of pages, much of their advice was outdated, impractical, or simply didn't work. The heart of the book is the chapters on choosing an area of practice and a unique marketing proposition so the lawyer can stand out in a crowded marketplace. The 2008 revision addresses changes in technology that have impacted computer hardware and software selection, and practical issues such as backing up data to a DVD, a removable hard drive, or even over the internet.
